I have five pugs and personally, I love the breed. They are natural born comedians and will have you rolling with laughter. There is some work to them however...they don't do well by themselves and would not be good for someone who is rarely home. Before getting a pug, you should weigh the pros and cons..... The Pro's They are lovable dogs that aim to please. They will keep you laughing. They are generally good around other animals and children. They are very loyal to their owner(s) Will do almost any trick you teach them as long as you reward them with a "good girl/boy treat" The Con's They don't like to be left alone. Pugs are well known for their snoring and farting....buyer beware....lol. They have small pushed in noses so it is important that they not get too hot or too cold. They have bulging eyes that tend to get a lot of "eye boogies" They are hard to house train They are stubborn They have wrinkles on their faces that need to be cleaned on a regular basis. Personally I feel the pros definitely out weigh the cons. I love my pugs and wouldn't trade them for the world.

I guess I would have to say that I agree with all that dclary has said, and I also have 2 pug's myself and they are the funniest little thing's and yes they do fart (and boy do i mean fart hehehe leave the room type of fart :/ ), snoze and snoot and they also shred hair and truck loads of it too so if you are not prepared to vaccuum every day then a pug is not for you! I personally have not had any trouble house training my pair and have breed a litter that had started to ask to be taken out side to the toilet by the time that they were only 8 weeks. Pugs are really really really people dog's and need companionship 24/7 so if you are away from the house for long periods then no a pug wont be the right dog. But like dclary I just love my pug's and wont have any other breed of dog now after having one other then a french bulldog.... :)

Firstly... have you ever been around a pug dog? I wanted a pug for the longest time. I thought they were the cutest little dogs, and I wanted one. Well my fiance's cousin brought down her pug one night. And let me tell you, I changed my mind real fast. They are nice dogs, but i can't put up with a dog that walks around an snorts, yes snorts all the time. They have a really annoying, and shrieky bark. What i would suggest if you are going to get one of these dogs is lots of chew toys. No toys with squeakys, because dogs can swallow them. Pugs have issues with asthma, so some type of air cleaner. And of course all dogs need a nice cushy bed. Good luck with getting your dog!

all dogs are lovely, i consider finding an animal shelter with one or two pugs in and then finding the pug which seems friendliest in its cage.
