I don't remember having to go through this as a student. But my daughter had to. She did wonderfully. I was surprised that it held her interest for as long as it took. I guess the school needed a baseline to see where she was at. eyou done this?

I believe that my school does this as well. My wife would be able to provide you more details than I. I like the idea, but I worry about the teachers forming a negative opinion of students who don't do so well. I guess I tend to worry.

I don't recall going through that we were just placed in any glass of our grade. Now days they have it where they split the kids up by what they know already so they aren't being taught the same thing they already know that is how it was explained to me anyhow when my sister did her testing 2 years ago. So the more advanced go into their own class and then the ones that don't know their ABC's and 123's goes into another. My sister was in the advanced class. I don't know if that is how it is there or anywhere else but that is how our schools does it.

I know when my son started kindergarten a few years ago he did not have to go through any assessment before school started. I do remember when I was in kindergarten we had a day of some sort of testing, but that was after school had already started. We spent half the day getting asked questions like when is your birthday, what is your phone number, and stuff like that. I still remember it because when I was asked when my birthday was I said the month, day, and the current year not the year I was born. I realized it later that I had messed up.
