my mom had an uncle that loved dandelion greens. he moved to a town where there were no dandelions. the town decided they didn't want dandelions in their town so they all joined together to rid the town of them successfully. so my mom's uncle used a seed catalog and ordered dandelion seeds and then planted them. the town was not happy with him. have you experienced anything like that?

That's cool. I have never heard of anything like that before. I didnt even know that you could buy dandelion seeds out of a catalogue. I love dandelions! You can make so many good things out of them. I especially love dandelion jam. I had a neighbor who would always make it. You should definitely try it if you ever get the chance.

hi sketch...i'd never knew that you could buy the seeds myself. i always took it for granted that there was no need to plant seeds since the dandelions were everywhere. and you've had jam made with dandelions? quite fascinating. my uncle would probably have loved that too. enjoy your delicacies.

Lol, cities, towns...silly things they can be sometime. What was their reasoning for wanting to completely get rid of dandelions? They don't hurt anything. Did they just not like the sight of them? O_o I just collected some dandelion seeds from our old place in the city because the people who had this new house of ours, here in the country, had used alot of chemicals to get rid of "weeds" and made the soil very poor. I love dandelions, and I love having a whole bunch of wild edible plants living in my lawn. I'm not much of one for the taste of dandelions myself...but I can candy the flowers (which're sweeter than the rest of the plant) so I insisted on collecting the seeds to grow some in the house before trying to plant them outside in the spring.

hi xparanoiax...i figured the town wanted pure green grass without the yellow dandelions multiplying. tho personally i've always liked them. candied sounds delicious. and it is fascinating to have edible plants in one's yard. happy growing to you.

Yea for your uncle!!! No I haven't experienced anything like that. Fortunately I live in a semi rural area. My front yard is solid dandelions in the spring if we have some rain. I love the flowers, and leaves to eat and dig some roots and leaves in the fall to make dandelion vinegar. Dandelions are my friends! If my neighbors don't like it sorry about that.

LOL for your remark. i had to laugh when my mom told me. and you like the greens too, so did my dad. it's great they are good for some people to eat. and they are not hard to grow. no effort at all. enjoy your greens.
