When we lived in Texas we had a friend who had an alligator farm and would sell us alligator any time we wanted it. It was expensive but worth it. My husband cooked it and it was delicious! We always got the tail because that is the best part of the alligator to eat. He had to bang it with a hammer to soften it up..(can't think of what you call that..lol) then he rolled it in cornmeal and fried it. It was soooo good! Wish I had some now!!

Wow, that's cool. Nice neighbor to have. I am not a cook, so I think "banging with a hammer" sounds fine:)

I have never had alligator, do not have the desire to try it either.
I had gone to an Indian (American Indian) festival where they sold gator. I did not buy any of course. There were called gator bites.
Banging with a hammer is called tenderizing.

LOL. I thought that, too, but I took the risk which is unlike me and I actually liked it.

I have never eaten alligator before, but I have heard that it does not taste much different than chicken, but even so,I do not think that I would ever been in the market to try alligator meat, because I am a very picky person, and I will only eat certain foods, and sometimes if the food is not prepared a certain way I will not eat it,even though if there was nothing to eat but alligator meat I would probably break down and try it lol.

That makes me feel a little bit better since you are picky to,so I might consider trying it if I ever get the chance, because I love chicken, and if it tastes like chicken it can not be too bad, have a great day, good luck in your life, and Happy Posting my friend.
