whenever i start my computer up it really takes awhile to do so, i mean when i turn it on i have to give it at least ten minutes to warm up so that i can get the internet up or else it will be slow, and i don't know whats going on its been like this for a little while and i have defraged it already and cleared the internet files and all of that stuff and i don't know what else it might be unless its because i have some start up programs like my yahoo and myspace messenger and a lot of icons...and i also have a anti virus program that starts everytime the computer starts...so maybe someone could tell me what the problem is and how i fix it...thanks for taking the time to read my discussion and i hope that you all have a great day today!

If it keeps bothering you you can always reformat your computer and start fresh. I think Upgradeing your memory and cleaning out your hardrive helps a bit.

That is because you have the anti-virus and that is pretty normal. Whenever you start the computer it automatically runs and scan files that's why it would take time to load up your settings. Once it will finish scanning or if you disable it will loads up setting faster. Check how many MB's is your anti-virus because if it is larger of course it will really slow your computer but it is ok since it will protect you PC from malicious malwares, viruses and spywares. It is not advisable to disable it since it protect your PC instead try to remove program in you control panel that you haven't really used to free some space so it will be ok. I have tried it myself and it really works. I think it really depends on how much is the memory is your PC can take it and it shouldn't be full so you have to free some.. Goodluck!

Hi friend, i am working as a network administrator according to my knowledge first of all you increase the RAM memory, and second is you should install antivirus which is good and which should not get late process to start and to work. Because anti virus also can make slow down the pc.

Sounds to me as though you have not enough RAM and too many programs starting up when you start the computer. You may also be low on hard drive memory, but without more detailed information it's impossible to say more.

Hello dear jhl. I think that it is because you have installed so many things in your computer that drag the speed of your computer when you start up. I also have installed an anti-virus software and some other softwares and it is also slow, but I don't have to wait for ten minutes before it opens the first window...

Well a virus or mal/spyware may be the culprit. But there are times when antivirus software can't detect them. One thing you could do is to do a system restore as far as you can. Go to the latest date, if you still remember, when was the last time your system was doing fine. You can go deeper into it though. Type services.msc (Start-Run) and review those services that are automatic. I wouldn't suggest removing items from msconfig. Back to services, you can visit this website. http://www.theeldergeek.com/index.htm If you see a service that is running/automatic, just search it on the website and it will tell you what you can/cannot disable. These services are loaded when you start windows. Just be careful, some services are related to the software you are using. They may not work the way it used to. Hope this helps. Best of luck.

Go to Start, then go to "Run" and type in "msconfig" and then go to the "startup" tab and choose which programs you want and don't want to start when you start up.

the best, easy, simple way is to disable some startup objects...if you have too many startup items,it will really really slow down your computer!! or you can get some softwares like startup optimizer,tune-up utilities,etc,..(some of them are free and some are trial versions..) Goodday, Sri
