so.... i had a culture test this week, and i read about the the colour orange which is being used to protest in the olympics... why???? read this... What is the purpose of the campaign? To use the Olympics in Beijing 2008 to visually put focus on China's violations of human rights, and to create a visual symbol, using the colour orange, to remind people that "we do know there is something wrong with the respect for human rights in China. "We will use the colour orange and make it a symbol of the protest against the human rights violations in China. Due to the strict censorship it will be practically impossible for sportspeople and spectators to get into the stadium with obvious symbols in form of text or pictures. But no authority will be able to ban the colour orange, although it is obvious for everybody that it expresses a conspicuous accusation against the human rights violations in China. http://www.thecolororange.net/uk/ so.... wow... even peeling an orange is said to be a powerful statement!!!! that is soooo.... disturbing... in a sense... i mean... why will you want to do that? what do you guys think? will you wear orange?

I wonder if the color orange was chosen because that is the color of the robes of Tibetan monks? I have been following this story with interest. I simply wouldn't attend myself. But if I was going to be there in some official form I would definitely consider wearing orange.

I happen to like the colour orange and will wear it, but not to protest anything. China has human rights violations. And I am aware. Still, they also have a huge population capable, if they have the desire, to stand against their own government and stop that. If they choose not to, then who are we to police the world and choose for them? They certainly have the numbers to uprise, if desired, and revolt. They choose not to and that's the bottom line. As for the Olympics..no matter where they are, my only concern would be that they be carried out in a sporting and honest manner. (Not rigged.) I respect the time our athletes have put into their training and am behind them to perform their best! The olympics should NOT be used politically, but as a manner just for those around the world to have at least a short peaceful time AWAY form war and senseless violence, to work hard and then compete fairly against each other, testing their abilities and not more! Sure, I wear orange. And I won't stop. And I DO plan to watch the GAMES, which is what they are intended to be! (Just games! Not politics.) Nope. I do not like their policies. But the Olympics are about ONLY the competition and that should be the only reason to participate and train..or for fans to watch. Lighten up. Enjoy the games and competitions and have pride in those that have dedicated their lives to getting there! (From ALL nations.-They all worked hard. For once..can't we just have some fun, watch the games and have peace for a few days?!-That is the REAL spirit of the Olympics. The rest can be dealt with after those few days when the games are done. We ALL could use some time to realx and enjoy.-Life is too short to make everything an issue of politics!)

Maybe because orange isn't the colour of any of the olympic rings? Or is it, I don't know. 4 years ago Ukraine had an Orange Revolution.

I think this is great. I have some serious issues with the olympics being in china and I really didn't know if I should boycott and not watch any of the game or really how I could show my dislike for china's human rights violations. I will wear orange and I will encourage others to do so as well.

Wow, this is a cool information. Thanks for letting me know. However, orange has many meanings aside from opposition. I have search the net about the color orange and I found out that orange can mean a lot of things. But what they are doing in the Olympics is a good thing, like a silent protest. Have a nice day! http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/Orange

The people who wear in orange know little about China. They have no clue how China, a disaster-ridden nation for more than 100 years, want to gain respect and prosperity by her own efforts. Criticizers, please, before you make comments on China's human rights, make sure you know what is now happening in China after 30 years' remarkable tranformation.
