My baby toenail broke off at the bottom, almost completely off the base of my toe. What would you do? I stopped the bleeding, disinfected it and put on a band-aid to keep it clean. What else would you do if it happened to you?

Hey there olive, aww, that must have hurt a lot. I broke my toe twice my whole life and on both occasions I went to the doctor and they pulled the toe off and then but some bandage on it. I heard that you need to pull off the toe as it may hinder the growth of a new toenail. So I guess you should pull it off yourself or go see a doctor.

Thanks for the advice! I can at least call the doctor's office and see what they think I should do! I hate to pull it off completely until there is some new growth! I guess I better eat some jello for a while.

Ooouch, poor you. I think I would probably cry, but other than what you have already done I wouldn't do a lot else, did you catch it on something or did it literally just fall off. I maybe mention it to the doc if it just fell off and take extra calcium for a while in case that is the reason. I hope it is not too painful for you. Ellie :D

oh I rammed it into a tire! It was an accident I stopped but my foot did not! I shed it back into place as much as I could, and used a band-aid to hold it in place.

I would try not to put on any kind of shoes that would rub on that toenail, and try not to bump into things for a while! I lost the nail from my bigtoe and as it didn't look too nice when growing back in I made the very bad mistake of putting polish on it. The result was that it came off again and took over two years to grow back again. It still isn't right, but I will not make that mistake again. Good luck.

I think there used to be some kind of save your nail gel that you could use and it was healed faster! I am glad that you are feeling better. It is a sensitive area. I am only wearing my sandals and staying off my feet for a while.
