Does women cook better than men?

India

It is seen that the cooking in most of the households are done by the women members of the family. In India, we the women are almost entirely responsible for cooking at our home. But, whenever it comes to the restaurants or a party, where we need to cook for a large number of people, we engage male cooks and the preparations are tastey too. I am puzzled, whether males cook well or the females cook well. Rather I may say, do we really know how to cook? Help me out.

Personally I don't think gender has any thing to do with being a good cook. My sons are very good cooks as are my daughters. Some men enjoy cooking as well as do some women. Some women can't cook for any thing. I believe that a person has to enjoy cooking to make a great cook. I think that men tend to be more adventuress then most women when it comes to cooking.

May be you are right and I too acknowledge that those who gives some special interests in cooking tend to cook well. Thanks for the knowledgeable response.

I come from a family where almost everybody's passionate about food, whether we're cooking it or eating. My mom's great with dessert while my dad mostly does main dishes. My sis is into baked goodies while my brother's forte is traditional dishes. Me? I experiment a lot with desserts and whatever ingredients' left on the ref. I guess the gender doesn't matter as long as there's that love for cooking.

I wish I get a family as yours where every member of the family have an interest for cooking food. This will make cooking a fun and I will enjoy being at the kitchen. You are right in your view that gender doesn't matter if love for cooking is there.

Women cook yes,but not necessarily better than men, take my son in law ,he is a much better cook than my daughter,he loves to cook, whereas she hates it,so its a good way to work it for them,he watches the children and he makes the supper for them both, and if they have any guests he will always cook for them, but lol that excludes me,as he likes me to cook for him!

Your son-in-law is amazing. Atleast he takes care of the home as a homemaker. What your daughter does? Does she work somewhere? It is true that every cook likes to taste food prepared by someone else rather than those with his/her own hands. So your son-in-laws likings are genuine.

generally speaking women cook more and are better cooks than most men, but some of the really, really good cooks are men. here in china, nearly all the chefs on the tv shows are men.

I am asking that only. If women can cook at home, why the chef at the tv shows and cooks at the restaurants are almost always males? So, I am confused, do women really know how to cook. Thanks for your comment.
