Nothing in life is free. ;) Don't be fooled by these freebies because there's always something in exchange. They might have given you some viruses or spyware with it, or if not, they may have gone information about you and your location. There are many sorts of stuff hackers could run through by these 'downloads' you made for free. So be on your guard, and if I were you, I wouldn't feel most comfortable with downloading these stuff. =) Good luck!

regardless of what you download piracy is a crime, each of us when download something commits an offence. we must limit ourselves to not destroy an entire market and the work of those who tries to compose music

When you download 'free' music, the artist and writer don't get paid. As an aspiring song writer I have issues with this, but, I understand why many people do it. I occasionally download songs from I-Tunes and I find that $1.00 per song is a bit high. I don't know where all that money goes. When you record someone else's song it cost $90 to use the song and 9 cents every time you press a record with that song so I don't know where the other 91 cents goes. Maybe someone else who has more knowledge of the procedure can explain it better.

You should always buy albums to make up for it. Especially the artists you really feel deserve it. Artists get money through concerts, endorsements, sponsoring, etc. So they still make their money, but as I said before you should purchase the artists' albums you feel are really deserving of it.

I have also downloaded lots of songs from the internet, and I do feel bad - I'm an aspiring artist myself, though I don't think I'd be upset if people downloaded my stuff for free. The way I reconcile with feeling bad is that I really love buying cds - having the booklet and stuff, so I download music I want, and if I really like it, I'll still buy the music too.

I would say it's definitely illegal and is ripping the artists off. Some new artists though will provide a song or two for free just to be discovered. I use I-Tunes or Wal-Mart music. I buy the cards from the store and deposit them online and buy the music. I was one of those, years ago, that used Napster, Audiogalaxy, and did download music for free. Once it went to court and was on the news and people were getting sued and all, that was the end of downloading any kind of free music unless it's the free song of the week from I-Tunes. That must be legit I'm thinking otherwise I don't think they could do that seeming everything else requires payment. I just would'nt do it again, because I'm sure this will be on the carpet again. You know what they say? If it's to good to be true, then that's what it is. There's always a catch to something, because there is not much in this world that is Free.
