Hi. I often do that if the shopkeeper has responded well to my call and haven't made me wait for long. There are a lot of things that you don't realize that you have done them or you don't have to make a conscious effort to do them, saying thank you is one of them for me. It feels nice when people reply to your thanks with a smile.

Don't look at me, I'm British. I think politeness is genetic. I've been known to say thank you to ATMs for giving me money.

if i buy something or the store clerk has been especially helpful, i always say thanks. i think it is just being polite and also politeness is something that is sadly lacking from our world these days.

I always say thank you to shopkeepers/workers when purchasing something. Its just the polite thing for us to do, I mean without their service we wouldnt be buying anything at all would we? I think we should thank people for their service. And its a friendly thing to do as well. If someone came into my shop and didnt say thank you, just payed, took their shopping and left. Id get slightly annoyed, and i would think to myself ' how rude'.

Well you did the right thing saying thank you. I always make it a point to say thank you even if its the guard opening the door or the driver of the jeep giving me my change. Saying thank you may not be a big deal to others and opt not to say it but it would mean a lot to those who are receiving the thanks. As for the reason, well I suppose they deserve at least a thank you after their services not just because its the right thing to do nor because its what our parents told us to do but also because we appreciate what the other person did so we say thank you. Another think that you could do while saying thanks is smile. It makes a world of different to the one who will receive it I guarantee.

Of course its polite to thank a shopkeeper, the shpkeepers are there doing a job,and it is good to treat them with civility,if we all started to treat each other with civility the world would be a much nicer place to live in,so you just keep it up and keep on saying your please and thankyous.

Yes, it is definitely good to thank them because you never know it may make their day having a grateful customer. They are probably there hours upon hours on their feet, have delt with rude people, and a thank you here and there is good to hear. Even if we do pay our money, we are still saying thanks for the service if they were helpful. It's just good manners.
