we are hoping to save to have our own place hopefully at the end of the year or early next year. we found a place that we both love and though it is far from his future job site, we still want to consider it as the neighbor are very friendly and it has a homey feeling on it and that is what we are looking for. with the economy situation right now it is hard to decide where to go. we have found a home that i am so in love with and want to built to the lot that we feel is very wonderful as it is in a country side. we like the fact that the home will gonna be an energy star saving home and it could be arrange the way we want it to be BUT the price will be fix and can no longer ask for a discount coz it will be built for us. the lot is very nice and with lots of hard woods and very great potential for anything you want to build at the back door. i want to have a nice garden (flower and vegetable) and i can already imagine what it will look like once it is built and arranged. then there is a home that is already built, same area but the lot is completely bare. no big tree no nothing just plain grass. we can ask for a big discount on it BUT really the home is nice but will be nothing compared to the one we want to build. since it is already built and been out in the market for almost a year, the builder is willing to give us a lot of incentive plus the fact that it is an energy star as well. having said all the pro’s and con’s, our hearts are weighing the thoughts out and really sulk it in base on reality and not just wants. we are both hoping to retire to whatever place we will buy so we are wanting to have it the way we want it to be coz we will stay there for the rest of our lives. BUT money wise, we will save a lot if we just settle for the one that is already built but just has few of what we want. what are your thoughts? what will you consider knowing it will be something that will last for a very long time. will you settle for something that will save you or the one that you know you fell in love with the first time you lay your eyes on it. your thoughts is highly appreciated! takecare

Hi Sweetie, I think the main question you should ask yourself is can you make all your dreams come true with the house that is already there? Can you see yourself spending the rest of your life there? Keeping in mind that you can change the house and increase the value of it versus having everything ready and how you want it from the beginning. You said that the land felt perfect. Yes, times are hard, but giving away your dreams and adapting can't replace that special knowing. If I were you, I would go and visit both once again. Take a picnic lunch and spend time there. It's okay to have your dream home and not settle. Hugs, LLA

hello carolyn, thanks for a very wonderful post - it sure touch my heart! that is exactly what i am feeling, i love the home so much as well as the lot it will be built on. every time we go there, i can already imagine what we will do to every part of it and how wonderful it will look like. my man knows exactly what i am feeling and he wants to give the best and my dream home coz we will stay there for the rest of our lives. the area is so warm and so homey and the only factor we have to worry is "money". i believe that if we built the house we want will be much better value in the end coz it is a very very nice one. its a craft's man home and i love the country feeling versus the one that is already there that is just a typical house out here. last night i told my husband that i am willing to wait and just save for the home that we both love than jump to the one we just like. we might move to another apartment once our lease is done, i told him to move to the one we saw next to Harris Teeter and other establishment so i can work part time and help him save something. that way he dont have to bring me to work and i can just walk across and work. yes, we only dream once and i dream to have a home that i can call a home. it doesnt matter if its big or small, new or old - just the feeling when you go inside that it is a home. for me there is a difference between something that you already feel at home and the one that you will transformed to be a home. i will suggest to him to have a picnic around the area when it is no longer 100+ in temperature. the bugs are bugging the man and the dog haha! but i love that idea and will do it some time soon. takecare and thanks for the wonderful post - as always!

HI jair, In my opinion, I will go for the one that we love to if it is attainable with our budget! It is a great motivation and inspiration to live in a place when you love it, different vibration...But, if it is not attainable for us even if we will wait for months to save, It will be fine for me also to consider the other option, anyway, when I am there, I am sure I know how to beautify it according to what we can! LOL!

hello che, thanks for your response and i am sorry for my delay i was sick (i think i have told that to you already) for awhile. anyway, i agree with you that we follow our hearts desire (i always do) provided that it is something we can reach. the place we both love is something that is attainable for us just that we are thinking of the discount we can get if we pick the other one, we just hate the fact that it is bare and no tree at all and we are both tree lovers LOL. yes, i can always beautify the place and make it the way i want it to be. i have been through a lot and live in place that is worst than what we have right now. back in china we lived in 23rd floor and i am always depress coz the place is polluted and i dont have a garden on it. so we plant a lot of flower and vegetables in our veranda and that makes it a wonderful place to live. i always believe that if you dont like what you are seeing THEN go paint it with something that will make you smile - often you can do it in your mind. just a set of mind will make a huge difference in life. anyhow, i am still torn with the place but i told him that if we cant move to a home yet then i will be fine living for awhile in an apartment as long as he is there and we are happy, healthy and safe - for me that is all that matters. wish you a wonderful evening! takecare and good night!
