Both of my mother and father are diabetic, thier age are 60 and 62 respectively,my mother are losing her weight while my father sometimes had a swelling buises in his legs that he didn't know where he got. I am worried on thier conditions.I read also that if both of your parents are diabetic you'll have 70% possibility chance to have it, sometimes that makes me paranoid. Having diabetes means having a abnormal life.

Yes, diabetes is hereditary, if your parents have it, its a good chance that you will too. Most of my family on both sides have diabetes, I have 4 siblings and so far 3 of us have it. Your life isn't that abnormal you can still do the normal things, you just have to watch what you eat, you do have to stay away from sweets, you can have some but not too much. If your overweight it helps if you can lose a few pounds. Do your parents watch their diets? Some people think that as long as they are taking pills or insulin they can still eat what they want but it don't work that way either. If you have anymore questions ask me, I'll try to answer your questions as best I can, I've been diabetic for 13 yrs. now. Have a good day
