The other day, I learned about MyLot and visited the site. I was so glad to learn that it was a community that users could interact with one another through discussions of different topics. I signed in immediately and without further ado, participated with zest. I was so excited, I didn't bother to read the Do's and Dont's of posting discussions. When I logged on today. that was the time I was able to "look around" and learned of the other features and read the don'ts. One don't is saying thanks to commenters. I thought it was a way of encouragement to acknowledge their comments and to react to these, but unluckily this goes against the rules. I'm learning my lesson fast and I'm willing to learn more. Thanks MyLot for this great and wonderful discussion forum. Kudos to you and more power.

Hi Jena! There's really nothing wrong with being polite and showing courtesy. I always say thank you to those who responded to my discussion. By my understanding, I don't think you are not allowed to say thank you 'alone' as it inhibits the discussion and puts a period to it. Sure, thank and acknowledge, but be sure to add more. Write more insights regarding the responders post. Do you agree with his post or not? What could be the reason? Emphasize some points, if you may, ask some follow-up questions or ask for more clarification. Even with a 'thank you' in your post, if you have more that just that I'm pretty sure it will be just fine. ;)

Well, I just said thanks in my comments, just to acknowledge the reaction to my discussion topic. Specifically stating or addressing users also is a don't in the discussion guidelines.

Welcome, MyLot is a great community. It's lot sof fun with a whole array of topics and opinions. I never realized you were not supposed to thank other users for their comment -- I do it all the time and also see many others doing the same. I guess most people don't know this. Oh well -- Learn something new everyday!

I read it from the guidelines for discusions. It says "not to thank every commenter." Perhaps if you have something vital to state in a commenters reaction you can but not just to say thanks.
