WHich do you prefer when making a cake?If I am going to be the one eating the cake I prefer cake made from scratch. If I am making a cake for a school bake sale or something of that nature I will make box cake mix because is less time comsuming and quicker.

It used to be tha I made everything from scratch. I wouldn't have dreamed of making anything from a box. Then I had three children. LOL. Now I wouldn't dream of making anything from scratch. I've gotten too darn lazy to even want to cook, let alone make it from scratch. Shame on me.

I am not one who is good at baking things from scratch so I always cheat and just bake cakes or brownies or cookies from mixes. My aunt is one of those who believes if it is not made from scratch it is not worth eating so she makes all her baking needs from scratch.

I have never tried to make a cake from scratch. I think that box cakes are good and they are cheap enough. I like them because they are so convient. I keep lots of different flavor cake mixes in the cupboard. Just incase I need to make one, it's there.

I dont bake a whole lot so I use box whenever I do. I would much rather just pick something up at the bakery though,I guess I am just getting lazy,I dont even care to cook anymore. You have a great night

I always used a Betty Crocker box mix. It was faster. My favorite is to make a marble cake with white icing. I quit making cakes a long time ago since my husband won't eat cake. I end up eating the whole cake. Our kids stop by but they aren't interested in eating cake so again it's eating the whole thing again.

I almost always make mine from scratch. I like to use whole, healthy ingredients. Most mixes have too many processed ingredients, too much sugar, etc. It is a bit more time consuming but definitely better for you and better tasting.

I've never made a cake from scratch. It's actually been years since anyone here as made a cake from scratch. Well, not really, we make an off version of a cake sometimes but that's only a few times a year and I don't eat it anyway. Usually if we're going to eat cake, we just open a box and make it that way. It's a lot faster.

I don't make cakes very often, but when I do I would say I make them from scratch about 50% of the time. It really depends on who I am making it for and if I want to take the time to make it from scratch.

I am the opposite. If making it for a sale or for someone else i make it completely from scratch and if it is for home i start with a box and just doctor it up.

Well I would normally say from scratch but recently my husband found this amazing one that makes such a nice cake that I would now say box!! Although when making little cakes it would be from scratch!

My personal favorite is a sour cream pound cake. If its pound cake then you can only make from scratch. I am not a fan of icing so this works best for me. I don't bake it that often for my family as its only 2 of us, so that means I have to pretty much eat the whole cake. Sometimes if I am in the mood for some homemade pound cake, I will bake it for my employee's just so I can have a warm slice.

I much prefer to bake my cakes from scratch. I dont know if they taste any better but I feel like I really baked. Unfortunately I dont always have time so I do use boxed cakes when I am in hurry. They are much faster and they do taste good.

I usually make cakes and brownies from the box. I'm not much of a baker, so I don't keep the ingredients around all the time; much easier for me to buy the box (more reliable outcome, too). I will bake cookies from scratch though, I find them less intimidating for some reason. I've never taken part in a bake sale, so I'm not sure what I would do in that situation... probably go for the box recipie for safety's sake.

I usually don't make cake at all. no one ever eats it here. about the only time i make cake is when we are going down to visit my great uncle. he likes when i bake him a cake made from scratch. i could go either way. i like both, but a cake from a box is easier to make though.

We're on the same wavelength! My friends and family and I deserve only the best, so it's all made from scratch. The bakesales, potlucks, etc., get either something out of the box or straight from the bakery.

the box cake mix is very good besides being convenient. and it is dependable to turn out when often from scratch it doesn't.

I make cakes from scratch whether for my own consumption or for bake sales and such. I don't like most mixes, because many contain too many additives and articial flavorings and colorings.
