The name of the show caught my attention a couple of days ago and I kept reminding myself Dr. Nicholas Perricone was going to be on the Rachael Ray show today. Inspite of the constant reminders, I almost missed. I did miss the first section of the show where the guest asked for solutions for aging skin without going for injections or incisions. When I turned the TV on Dr. Perricone was at the table with an array of foods he had Rachael choose from as healthy. She quickly passed up the rice cakes and baked potatoes and chose olives, sardines and guacamole. She was right on target. It seems that all of these foods contain omega 3 fatty acids which are either rich in DHA or provide the body with the ingredients needed to make it. Omega 3 fatty acids keep insulin levels even, do not set up an inflammatory reaction in the body and so are very good at building muscle, reducing the effects of ageing, in the body and also make us LOOK younger. One thing I thought was interesting, Rachael asked if in addition to eating these foods was in important to use the "creams and potions" to moisturize the skin. Dr. Perriocne replied that if you took the straight fish oil and applied it to one side of the face that your face would be lopsided in 20 minutes, so yes creams containing DHA were definitely a bonus to treating wrinkles and sagging skin. You can read more on this article (in case I misinterpreted some as I sometimes do) at http://www.rachaelrayshow.com/show/view/529/ I'm off to look for the fish oil!
