I have had this gas card you sign up for and its free at my local gas station. It's a Valero card (you probably know them as BP) and you accumulate points the more you use it and I use it all the time because Im always getting more diesel for my car and its the cheapest gas station anyway, unless I go over state lines to get it. I started using the beginning of june and now its August and I have 100 points left and I will have gold status and get 4 cents off every gallon of gas! I am happy about this because it is summer time and I have been doing more driving to parks and stuff to keep the kids busy, stuff that taking the bus doesnt get you to. Another perk is that you get coupons off and on for stuff in the store which most of the time I give away but sometimes ill get something im into. So is it worth it to you, are you earning the perks of using it yet? Which reward card do you have? Was it easy and quick to sign up for? Is everyone in the family using them? I love being able to use it and cant wait to get the 4 cents off every gallon of my gas because saving any on gas seems worth it to me now and I don't have to make a special trip to another gas station (unless its 10 cents cheaper, sometimes)

Never. First it is a good way to get your number stolen. I have heard so many stories about this little gizmo that you can even buy on ebay and after someone swips their card in an atm style machine, the person takes this little gizmo and however it works, swips and gets the last number run through the machine. THen they take that number and whatever they do with it and make a card with that number on it, and take that fake card to the nearest ATM machine and take out whatever they can get! I saw it on the news channel and the reporter bought the little gizmo and did it to herself and it worked. Second, the station I go to - Union 76 - has 10ยข a gallon cheaper if you pay with cash. So I pay with cash.

I don't think she meant a gas card like a credit card. She meant a rewards card. I have never had any thefts from using an atm or a credit card anywhere, including any store, gas station, or online. I realize this does happen to people but I don't think it's as easy as you're stating here, or else myself and at least 5 other people I know would have had identity or bank theft occur already. I DID have a problem when I had my car stolen, but my car had some credit card bills in envelopes inside PLUS a paystub with my information for automatic deposit. That caused some problems for me but anything where someone actually gets ahold of your card(s) or account numbers is a problem. There are supposedly security things built into atms that prevent somebody that comes after from getting your number.

All I know is what I saw on the tv news by the reporter. She did it right there on camera and made the fake card with her own id and then went to an ATM and it took money out of her account! My son just had it it hit him twice - someone got his infor and took $1000 from his checking account nad since there wasn't that much in the checking it rolled over and took it out of his savings account.

man that suck. I am a victim of identity theft but that was when I was 18, naive and had roommates. My boyfriend had a credit card stolen out of his car because he delivered pizza and was always in and out of his car and guess left his doors open one time too many and had a credit card stolen, and in just one night there was 1,000 dollars used on it but he had the card put on hold and Thankfully they had the rules where your not liable for stolen cards, he called right away as soon as he noticed though. Man, so you still have problems with it?

I don't have anything like this, I should ask at my local Valero. I get gas there sometimes because it is the closest cheapest station, and the drive thru car wash is there too. As an added bonus, there is a Cold Stone (ice cream) place inside the gas station building. I usually go to Costco instead, as it is usually at least 5 cents cheaper than the Valero. I also have another option, the Food 4 Less station. If I need to buy at least $25 of groceries, I can go in there and buy groceries, then I can get a coupon for 5 cents off a gallon. If I spend more than $50 in groceries, I get a coupon for 10 cents off a gallon. Gas is going down a little here though so Costco is still my best bet unless I'm on E and I've been on E - the Valero is closer lol.

oh yum, gotta love that sweet cream (actually, i spend most of my purchases on the blueberry, pineapple shake). I have not seen anything like what you mentioned about the grocery stores offering coupons for gas purchases but I would definately use it if they did, i look around for that. I am the type that I will use like 75 percent of the coupons i get from the grocery store and in the mail. Sounds like your doing everything right!
