The Chinese have practiced this simple position to improve the quality of their sleep and their breathing while sleeping for thousands of years 1.Lie in bed on your back. 2.If you are right handed, cross your left foot over your right foot,vice-versa if you are left-handed. 3.Interlace your fingers on top of your chest. 4.Close your eyes and gently concentrate on your breath. As you listen to your breathing. You will soon drift into a deep and restful sleep. Like to try it for see the results?

It sounds like a really great gesture, but only one thing; I cannot sleep on my back, I get night mares. I sleep on face down or the lateral position. Those are my only two positions for me.

I'll try to remember this the next time I have one of those nights that I can't get to sleep. I've tried the "complete breath" method. Sometimes it works and sometimes it just makes my head spin.

Oh it's that so! Well, I will try that tips tonight as I go to sleep. But one thing more I wish to add. A person should also have peace within. Because even if you do that kind of position if there are things and problems bothering your mind, a restful sleep would be very hard to find. As I have a peace within and have been sleeping goodly.. then I surely will have an even much deeper and sweeter sleep when I try the hints you've given. Have a nice day friend!

Actually I have no trouble going to sleep. Sometimes I'm asleep the minute my head touches the pillow. But my husband is sort of an insomniac. Sometimes he watches tv till morning, and complains of how difficult he finds it to go to sleep. So I will let him try your suggestion. Thank you for sharing and happy mylotting.

If he is sort of insomniac he got to try some other things before trying this position. This position only improves the quality of the sleep,so he got to try to exercise regularly, best done done before dinner but not too close to bed time.Avoid caffeine especially afternoon and nicotine.Get regular exposure to late afternoon sun.Practice yoga or meditation.Including this Chinese sleeping position and he can't go wrong Good day and cheers.....

I haven't been having any trouble sleeping lately at all, but yes, I'd like to try that! Thanks! :) The hand and foot positioning are new to me. Just one question, should the hands be strictly on top of the chest? Is it okay if they are over the diaphragm? I think I'd be more comfortable if on top of the diaphragm.

OK roshad, I think I've tried every position and every "try to sleep method" there is! What makes this one special? I'm sure I've done this position, but I'll try it again and let you know. It really doesn't seem like it's anything special. Forgive me for being so cranky but I was up here until almost 5:00 this morning and the online here again since 9:30! You guessed it- insomnia! So when I say I've tried everything I mean it! Falling asleep for me is just so annoying and torturous. Even my shrink can't seem to help me. So I will try almost anything. He wan't me to go to a sleep clinic. I told him I don't want to have people watch me not sleeping. What would be the purpose of that?
