First off this topic is not to start an argument, just to bring an awareness of the event.
Here is a great site that explains it all:

If someone would have told me when I was in my 20's that I would have breastfed a child, I would have looked at them like they had two heads. In my later 20's I remember friends who were still breastfeeding their one year old's and me thinking are they nuts. Let's jump to 1996, when I was 34 and pregnant with my first. I looked into formula and basically said Yuck! I then made the choice to BF. No one in my immediate family had ever done it while I was growing up. My SIL tried but my nephew wasn't getting it. My mom thought I was nuts. But I wanted to try, since it was one of the most healthiest things I could do for my daughter.
I proceeded to BF my second daughter.
I think BF is one of the most natural things in the world to do. I also feel that woman can do it in public discreetly without calling attention to themselves. If you think about it, it is a very "GREEN" thing to do.

Hi kimbers867. I'm sitting here stumped--trying to think of an appropriate way to celebrate this holiday week...
Anyhoo, I don't know much about bre-stfeeding, as when my son was born, it was not 'en vogue' to bre-stfeed. It became quite popular a few years later and continues to be widely used today, at least in the U.S. I believe there are experts who tout the healthiness of mother's milk for the baby. Yes, I agree, it is a very "green" thing to do.
Thank you once again for enlightening me on this holiday week. Do take care.
