I don't defragment very often but I do delete the history/cookies pretty much every day. If I don't my husband will do it because he says this is important. He also said it is important to defragment but we just don't do this often as the deleting of history and cookies. Have a great day!!

I have only done it once.I remember it took a long time. And I have seen on the web that frequent defragment is bad for your hard drive,it can shorten the life span of your hard drive...so do not do it so frequently. Now I am using Linux. It is good to have no necessary to defragment any more

Hi Nocovi, It is a myth that defragmenting reduces the life span of a hard drive. Actually, it would be quite the opposite, if anything- fragmentation puts extra workload on a drive while reading a file because the file system issues multiple I/Os for reading a fragmented file as compared to a contiguous file. Please see this article from our website that will explain it clearly. http://www.diskeeper.com/diskeeper/myths/hard-drive-wear.asp Best regards :) ---------------------- Representative Diskeeper Corporation ----------------------

then soon would make your computer happy. when i didn't know about defragging my computer didn't recognize the password so i had to get out the installation disk and refresh it. so if your computer is happy and it loves to be defragged. then you're happy. your computer is holding it's leash in it's mouth asking for you to take it on the defragging walk. :D enjoy your computer.

When you defrag your computer, it helps speed it up. I often defrag mine, but sometimes, I wait too long and the message pops up telling me I need to defrag. It doesn't take that long on my laptop or my desktop. I think we keep our machines in better shape if we regularly defrag them. I also occasionally delete all the cache in my browsers to get rid of unwanted junk and run a disk clean up program as well.

I do defragment my hard disk from time to time. I kinda speeds things up by collecting scattered bits and putting them together. I think everyone must do it occasionally. Windows XP OS has a very good analyser which will even tell you if you need to defragment the drive or not. It's really worth the time.

Hi friend, I don't defragment my computer frequently.I do it once in a year or atleast once in 6 months. If we defragment the computer frequently the system hard disk may crash.Because of this fear i do defragmentation once in a year or every 6 months. Have a nice day.

greenglitterturtle, I defragmented my system. But to defragment it needs at least fifteen persentage free space. Now this computer is almost full.So to defragment again i have to delete some thing from the computer. But i am now also doing the system disk cleaning and temporary files deleting... That will help to increase the speed of internet and our system. Thanks for sharing

I try to do a complete system maintenance on my home computer each week because my husband and I both use it a lot. That includes defragging, disk cleanup and clearing out all of the internet junk. I have a program that does other things as well to keep my system running at it's best but right now I can't remember everything that it does.

I defrag my computer every now and then, no regular schedule there. First I re-boot the computer and enter safe mode and then defrag and after that do a disk cleanup. In regular mode, defrag can take hours. In safe mode it goes pretty quickly
