My (nigerian) bf and i were having a discussion about how in his family/culture a womens cycle was never mentioned of and was always concealed very well; so that none of the men in the house, knew when a women was on her cycle. In my (canadian) family however it was almost openly talked about. When i got my cycle at 12 yrs old my mother ran downstairs and told my father, and aunt and 2 of my uncles (whom were visiting) that i got my womenly cycle for the first time. Is it concealed in your family/culture. What country are you from. Do you think its part of culture or its simply family choice if they advertise about their womenly cycle?

No, it isn't something to be ashamed of. But, because it is reproduction related and exclusively female in nature, it might make some men uncomfortable to hear it talked about. Here, in America, it is something you don't talk about in general conversation. It is like talking about using the restroom or something. Except among women who might chatter and compare notes about it. At least it is often this way where I live, in the bible belt.

A women's cycle is something to be proud of. It is a sign of her womenhood and not to be ashamed of. When I was living at home the women's cycle was talked about openly. In our house it was a badge of honor.

Also I think with the world the way it is today men are more accepting of this part of a women's life. How can a women's cycle be kept a secret anyway because at least in the United States they have commercials talking about the products to help with the women's cycle. So I think that it is just a acceptable thing to talk about the women's cycle. Times have changed and at least for me I think the change is a good one.
