Some Tips About Blogging Based on Experience

Starting a blog is relatively easy. You sign up and within minutes you can start blogging. The major problems however, are maximizing exposure of your blogs, acquiring good readership and maintaining both - maximum exposure and good readership. When I first started "blogging", I didn't even know what the term meant. But I had to do it as it was related to some "project" that I had to finish. Within minutes I had my blog, but what to do with it? I had to research in the internet to find out. I successfully posted my first article and from then on, I learned through trial and error. I would like to share some pointers with other newbies in the blogging world: These are the significant things I learned from my blogging: 1. I had to find ways and means to maximize my blog - one of the methods that I found effective was submitting my Blog's URL to ranking sites and to search engines. At first my blogs didn't appear in any of the search engines but after I have submitted them, slowly, my blog's topics began to be indexed by the search engines. 2. It is not enough that I write a post. I should interact with anyone who comments on my article. I found out that the more I replied to the comments, the more that the readers came back to read more. Replying to these comments gives the idea to your readers that you care for them. 3. Joining a community will give a big boost to your traffic. This is especially true if you're still a new blogger. MyLot is a good community and I like how they operate things here. Interacting with members here could also help you increase your traffic. The community that I have joined is the Entrecard Community. Just like MyLot, the admin there are very helpful and are willing to HELP the members to achieve their goals. This community introduced me to a lot of international blogs which have amazing contents. 4. Lastly, you should post regularly. Posting at least 3-4 times a week, makes the search engines index your posts more frequently. Not posting for a long period of time will not give you exposure because the engines won't be indexing your sites. With these pointers, I hope bloggers out there would glean some useful tips they could apply.

Those are very good tips expecially for the novice blogger. I have kind of given up on my blog becasue the world of paid blogging is pretty competitive. I think I am going to post on forums for now. I havent totally given up on my blog but I'm kind of taking a beak from it. It's a good thing to do.

Informative discussion you have started. Good to see that you are getting good hits to your blog. It takes sometime for a blog to become popular. My strong recommendation for good blogging is to get a colorful design with enriched sidebar, focus on something common but different from those already very much popular, post regularly, and target your niche audience. Blogging community works great to keep your blog up in the race.

Your tips are very good and I have not yet done this to mine ( colorful design), as I alone ( a non-computer expert) had designed my blog. If you visit mine, it looks disorganized and drab but I do have a few readers and that makes me extremely happy. Thanks for adding your useful information.

We should help each other out. In helping each other, we help ourselves too. We should share the experiences that we have, so other people would learn from them. Your input has been most useful.

Well, thanks for the very insightful tips to blogging. Joining community or networking sites is a very effective way to increase traffic that I must agree. Maybe back-link sites can also be another form of extra boost of traffic. Cheers.

Yes, backlinks are useful too, especially if they're from well known sites or high ranking sites. That is one useful information you could share. Backlinks boost traffic too.

I would agree those are all good tips. I visited your blog and I saw your post about myLot. I also write about my experiences at myLot on my blog, and I always post when I get paid, so I get new referrals joining from the link on my blog. I never submitted my blog to search engings or PR sites but I have a good ranking just from my backlinks. This is another reason why joining community sites is effective. I have a profile page at several big community sites, like myLot, and adding my link to each profile gives me high quality backlinks. The search engines pick up on this so it helps to raise my PR and increases traffic to my blog.

Aside from those already mentioned, having a site map is also useful because this will be helping search engines to index your site. Pictures are not recognized by search engines unless you attach a specific code for them, or text labels attached to them. Follow all the inputs in this discussion and I'm sure your blog will slowly gain readership. Don't expect miracle boosts to your traffic though. You have still to work hard for it, but now you'll have a blue print of the things that you should do to attain that much sought after top ranking. Good luck.

Thank you for the tips. I hear so much about making money blogging but have not made much. And I haven't really tried either. However I am going to implement your ideas into a marketing campaign. Thanks much.

Don't launch into your marketing campaign yet. First you have to develop your blog, write interesting posts and acquire readership first before attempting to market. It should be step by step. Good luck.
