Are you a starter or responder?

I was wondering what you do most on mylot? Are you an in betweener or do you stick with a certain way of posting. I am a starter. That is not to say I don't respond to others discussions, because I do. I just prefer to start them. I love to see what people have to say about the stuff I come up with. It makes me feel creative and fun.

Hmm, your question made me think what kind of myLotter am I. :) Well I say that I love to join in discussions and share my thoughts with the threadstarter. Then I also love starting my own topics and wait for others to see what they think about it. So I guess I'm a little of both. But in order of preference, I like checking out the active discussions first before starting my own. This way, that makes me more of a responder. As long as we share our thoughts with each other, it should be ok I guess. :)

Yes we should be better than ok. I like that we can express our thoughts and not have to worry so much about flack. Sure there are those that like to hate, but hey, they are few and far between. Thank goodness!

I'm a little of both. I'm a responder every day. But I'm a starter just whenever I think of something to start talking about. I don't get good ideas very often.

I am a fountain of ideas. lol. I like to carry a notebook with me and write down stuff that I think of. And with kids, I know I always have stuff to post in parenting. lol.

Either or. I know I can use add an image when I comment, but I don't want to step on toes and post pics that aren't allowed to be reproduced on another site.

I am actually a responder. I have started a few discussions but only attracted a few visitors. Maybe my thoughts are not that attractive.

Perhaps, or maybe there just aren't any people visiting that interest that day. It is hard telling. Some of mine really take off and others from months ago... shoot, years ago still need responses. lol

I am mostly a responder. Maybe I just do not have the creativity to think about subjects that others might find interesting. I am glad that you like to be creative and fun because it gives me something to respond to. Although there are times where I have no idea what you are talking about because you will say something like "what do you think is the best scene" but know where in the discussion does it say what you are talking about unless I look at the tags.

That is good but I respond because I either go to you profile and check what you have started or if I get a notification. Then it does not say what category it was started in. It should. That would be nice.

That sounds like something to put in my what would you change about mylot post. :D

Usually if I post something like that, it is in a given movie or tv show. Like when I asked what was their favorite scene under the topic Titanic. If you are confused, look at where I posted it, because people responding to that are the ones interested in that same show. I do that a lot with tv shows more than movies though.

I have t say that I comment more that starting a discussion. I have come to realize that my topics are not all that interesting and I find myself commenting more that starting a discussion.

I'm more of a responder because I visit myLot and add a few responses between other actitivites. If I was thinking up new topics and starting more discussions I would have less time for responding. I enjoy the variety of discussion topics I can respond to and it is fortunate that there are some creative people starting discussions all the time. I think the success of myLot comes from having a good mix of those who like to start discussion, those who prefer to respond and people who like to do both.

I think that is very true. It takes both kinds to make this place what it is.

I think that is great. Those of us that post love responders and the more there are, the better.

I respond more to discussions than start them. I'm not sure why--but I usually have a lot to say about certain topics, but am loathe to begin with my opinions. I like to see what others have to say on a subject first and then contribute my opinions. If I start discussions it's either to ask a question that's been really bothering me or to share an interesting article that I'd found on the internet.

I like to open discussions because then I know I am opening with my opinion, which doesn't bother me. No one else has to agree, but at least then I know their opinions haven't influenced mine. I don't feel the need to temper my response so I don't get anyone upset that has voiced strongly an opposing viewpoint. It is quite liberating. That is how I see it anyways.
