Avatar: The Last Airbender - any fans here?

My family and I are HUGE fans of the Nickelodeon series Avatar: The Last Airbender. My husband and I like the serialized storytelling, and the mythical elements involved - it's got a great, intricate plot. My kids (3 and 5) love the characters and the things they can do - waterbending, firebending, etc. It's nice to have something to watch together that isn't so dumbed down my husband and I can't stand it, but is still okay for my kids to watch.
It was sad to the series in its current incarnation end, but I've heard rumblings of a few one hour mini-movies to wrap up loose ends - which would be fantastic. I personally have GOT to see what happens to Zuko.
And then there's M. Night Shymalan's Avatar movie - which will be shot in live action. I have no idea what to think of that - frankly, it makes me a little nervous. I'd hate to see such a great series screwed up!
What are your thoughts about Avatar: The Last Airbender?

My son is 9 and really likes the show. We have the first 2 Books on DVD and he even owns both games. It is fun watching the kids grown up and see how their frienships change, powers evolve.
I didn't know M. Night Shymalan was going to make an Avatar movie. I am not a big fan of his work.

We have the first two books on DVD as well - we can't wait to get the third, which comes out in September.
I'm a bit apprehensive about M. Night's movie as well - he doesn't have the greatest track record of late!

Just seen the series last year and I'm already excited about what is going to happen on the movie that isn't out yet today. I've seen the teaser though and its really awesome, I can't wait to see it on theater. I'll be bringing my daughter and hopefully she'll appreciate it even if she's not fond of Anime all she wants to watch is Disney and such. But I think she'll like it because of the powers the characters could do.
