A few days ago I had recieved an email from alertpay and it was saying due to check my activity on the site I was requiered to change my password. Then, I just clicked the link and it redirected me to alertpay website and I was just getting suspucious about this thing. Then I typed the "www.alertpay.com" url manually to see if the 2 sites are same. Well, they were same but when I checked the link in my email it was redirecting me to : "www.aiertpay.com" and which means it is surely spam and wants to collect alertpay passwords of all people. After seing that I just wanted to make sure I didn't type my password on the fake site and changed my password on the original website. So, if you recieve a similar email just delete it! They won't ask you to change password this way

I got one the other day too and realized it was a scam and didn't do it. I know someone said they had fallen for it and their AlertPay account was cleaned out. I don't recall if it was someone here at myLot or not. I wish people would find something better to do with their knowledge of technology and the internet, instead of scamming honest people.

Thanks a lot for clearing this thing out. I have received more then 3 emails saying the saying thing. I got suspicious about it the moment I read the email but and so I thought I would ask the alertpay admin or maybe I could get some information about it on mylot and that's how I came to your topic. Now I am feeling safe that I did not do what the email asked me to do.Thanks again.

Thanks for the tip. There are a lot of these kind of scams out there. I almost got duped by a person pretending to be from rapidshare once.

That's not spam, it's a phishing scheme. People use those to collect your passwords and steal money from you. You'll find them with any financial site that you're apart of, inclulding the companies that you bank with.

Hey, the_ruler! I also received that email, but it went straight into the spam box of my email, and I just did what I have to do: delete it straight away. In fact, I also received many of such spam emails for my paypal account. I remember last time I was very cautious, so these sort of emails always required me to check out whether they are real or just spams trying to get our personal details. Because of my wary nature, these days emails from some so-called paypal or alertpay that requires me to key in details such as passwords etc. will lead me to ignore the email and go to the real paypal or alertpay site to check out whether what the email claims were true. By the way, thanks for the caution and reminder; not everyone would have been able to spot the fake mail from the way how genuine it looks....

Yes that is pretty scary and thank goodness they didn't get any of your information. I have had a lot of fake emails about paypal and when I contacted paypal they said to forward them on to them and they would take care of it. On all my emial accounts I have a spam folder and anything I am not sure of gets put into this folder and deleted. My best email account is with gmail because in the 2 1/2 years I have had it only one spam email got into my messages the rest were automatically directed to the spam folder without reaching my in box. Thanks for passing on this valuable information.
