Do you feel ashamed about crying when your pet dies?

Blue Eyes - When he died I felt like a part of me died too

When I was in college my pet dog died, and I bawled like anything despite the taunting of my friends. Now I am much older, and my pet puppy was run over by a car. I still get teary eyed just thinking about the incident. I was rather embarrased about crying over the death of a puppy in front of people, but I just couldn't help it. He was such a darling. He had the bluest eyes, and so lively and cute. I'm attaching a picture of him. How about you? Do you cry when your pet dies?

I had a lab for 6 years that I loved dearly who passed away. He was my love and I cried for about a week. Dogs become a member of our family and there is no shame in expressing your feelings. I have two other dogs that were here when My Jackdog was alive and I have recently added a new one. Still miss him, but I am making room in my house and my heart for another dog who needed a home.

Losing a pet that has been with you for a long time, who has become part of your life, would be very sad. But maybe, when you think of it, you would not really grieve too much because you know that it is his time, and you have many memories to keep him alive in your heart and mind.
