Do you know the skills of the bargaining when buying an expensive item?

you know, in some shopping markets, shopping center or country fairs, we can get a discount on some expensive items, but i don't know the art or the skills of bargaining, do you know how? do you often bargain when you buy some stuff? if know the secret of bargaining, please share it with us.

I'm hopeless in bargaining and normally take someone who is good at it along with me. I try sticking to half the price quoted to me and find that it works sometimes. At the end of it still keep wondering if I paid the right price.
