Have you ever felt that you don't have enough cash, just when you are billed?

Yesterday my friend and myself went for a shopping. After a heavy purchase, we visited a grocery store. Since she don't have a card, we paid cash for all purchases. Our turn came at the billing counter and the products were billed. Just then she was shocked to see that she did not have enough cash for the purchase. Then we had to swipe my card for the bill and we managed the situation. My friend was very upset by this and worried how worse it had been if I did not have a card..Have you ever faced a similar situation? Have you ever felt that you don't have enough cash for the purchase just at the time you are at the billing counter?
