" How Can They Compete?

I heard this phrase on The L Word the other night and got me thinking Spoiler Alert. If you haven't seen this week's L Word, stop reading this post. This phrase was said by a homophobic cop.It got me thinking. Do some straight people think gay people have a advantage romantically?Do they think since they " have the same equipment"that they "know" more?I am straight and I have never thought that. I must confess that I thought that the communication would be better Until I saw The L Word and other gay themed movies and shows. Now I know that is not true. What do you think? Is this competition view a reason for a person being homophobic?

I really don't think that is a 'reason' for a person being homophobic. It's just another idea they have about gay people. If they have that mindset, then they really don't need a reason for the way they feel about gays

I disagree. If you Really think that gay people are out there trying to " convert" people, that is a great reason to be homophobic. The sad part is you are born gay or not. No one can convert anyone.

Straight but not narrow - This is how i describe myself
I heard someone say that about knowing the equipment more intimately. I suppose it makes sense, but in my mind it's the difference that makes it really interesting. Guess that's why I'm not personally gay, huh? I feel like when you get into romantic areas, true love not playing around, there is no sense of a competitive advantage. If there is that kind of competition mindset, then we're not truly talking about love anyway, are we? And even people with the exact same equipment are likely to have different preferences and sensitivities too.
