I've read that microwaving a thick piece of lemon in a little bowl of water for 3 minutes rids odors, steam cleans the inside walls, and leaves a nice lemony scent. The steam collects on the inside of the microwave making it easier to clean off/wipe down with a rag or paper towels.

Since everyone else as mentioned using vinegar I'm going to suggest another thing to do. If you have any baking powder you could put some in a bowl and set it in your microwave over night. You could check it in the morning and see if that has helped any. It may take a few days of leaving the bowl in there but it may help. I'd suggest using the vinegar first to wipe it down and then maybe setting the bowl in there afterwards to soak up anything residual.

I agree that vinegar is best or you can also use lemon juice. Again make sure to rinse well afterwards.

Vinegar is the best for any sort of odor. Put some vinegar into a microwaves safe bowl, I actually use a glass measuring cup, and add a little water to it (maybe 3 parts vinegar to 1 part water). Microwave for just a minute, let it cool for a few seconds, and remove. You should be able to wipe out any food spills very easily, and it will get rid of that lingering odor.

Try some diluted white vinegar, then rinse, rinse, rinse.. otherwise the house will smell like a slad.. But it does work! Good luck!
