My computer never hangs. I make sure I only have enough running programs for the amount of memory I have. And delete all the ones I don't use.

I think I will know that a virus is responsibl and I will immediately install an antivirus to deal with the problem-last wek I had this kind of troubel and I settled it pretty fast with avast antivirus-now am just fine

i have a gud system with gud speed processor.so it usually dont hang but when it hangs it is a very frustrating.but i usually first guess that about how much time it will last. if it looks like hanging forever,i try ctrl+alt+del if it doesnt work then restart button is always in my hand. but if the period of processing looks like, that it will end in some time, then i just lie down on the bed to take some rest, bye thats it peace.

If it doesn't respond for a long time, I turn it off.

i wait until it goes back.. but if it takes some time, i restart it but it is not a good thing to do since programs ends abruptly and may cause corruptions on system files..

I seldom do encounter hang state but when I do, I'm doing something really resource hungry application like large size graphics or video conversion. When I'm doing this normally I'm under time pressure so I'll just power down my system cool it for about 3 to 5 min and reboot. My unit too is a bit old so no matter how I optimized it, it can go only that fast(or slow) so I just wait for it to finish all the boot up applications and resume my work. Usually I'll just fix myself a mug of coffee and smoke a bit and its ok.)

Well, my pc always hangs and it happens during rushing my report. My gosh! i almost want to throw it away. Maybe, i am impatient to wait for it to read or just my pc's memory is not enough to do all the task i want it to do. Most i of the time, i do turning it off by pushing it's button and wait for 5 minutes before turning it on. Well, can't upgrade that pc. I better buy a new one than upgrading it.
