I turned on our local PBS station for my mother tonight. Neither of us is a big TV watcher, but she was just sitting, sitting, sitting. So I looked up to see what was on TV tonight, maybe there would be something she'd enjoy. I saw that our local WHYY station was showing Celtic Thunder all evening. I knew they often showed Irish singers, but didn't know what this was, so I turned it on and WOW!! What voices!! Here in the US, we'd be calling them a "boy band", but they're far and beyond that! She is still watching and I'm in here listening while sharing this with you. There was one song that really struck me. I hadn't heard it before and I just LOVE the lyrics. I'll put a link in here for the song itself if I can find it. But, here are the lyrics - they alone are worth reading. I am a sailor, you're my first mate We signed on together, we coupled our fate We hauled up our anchor, determined not to fail For the hearts treasure, together we set sail With no maps to guide us we steered our own course We rode out the storms when the winds were gale force We sat out the doldrums in patience, and hope Working together, we learned how to cope Life is an ocean, love is a boat In troubled waters, it keeps us afloat When we started the voyage, there was just me and you Now gathered round us, we have our own crew Together we're in this relationship We built it with care, to last the whole trip Our true destination's not marked on any charts We're navigating for the shores of the heart Life is an ocean and love is a boat In troubled waters, it keeps us afloat When we started the voyage, there was just me and you Now gathered round us, we have our own crew Credited to John McDermott, but also to Christy Moore, so all I know is that this is a copyrighted song, so please don't claim it as mine or yours. Isn't it great, though? Doesn't that say it all about how a relationship should be? I wasn't able to find it online for listening, but trust me - it is so good and the gentleman who sings it does it so well!! I hope you get a chance to hear it. The only other relatively new artist who caught my attention in a similar manner was Taylor Hicks who won American Idol a couple years back. There was just something about him, the power and passion in his singing....for the first time, I actually watched Idol and rooted for him to win. Anyway, besides wanting to know your opinion of these lyrics and if you've heard of Celtic Thunder, I'd like to know if you've ever had any artist new (or new to you) really catch your ear to where you wanted to know more about them and hear more from them. Please tell all of us about them!

I went to youtube to check that group out and I love them. They have some great a capella songs on there also, I love a capella but even with musical instruments as their back up they are great. Thank you for sharing this great singing group with me.

That's where I looked first for the one song. I even checked their MySpace page and they don't have it there or in their MySpace videos, so I left the lyrics. The words are still good, even if they didn't write them. But, I was very impressed with them, and the wide range of ages within the group. That little one has quite the audience following - even my mother could tell that and she's legally blind! I'm glad you liked them. I'm more than willing to help them build a fan base!
