herb identification

Ok, I admit it. I am a bad gardener. I have been busy my lotting and trying to stay cool and have not done much weeding of the garden. I have an embarassing problem. I have basil planted and at least two weeds have grown beside it. I dont know which is basil and which is weed. I tasted it cant tell. Can anybody help me??

The basil has a kind of sweet smell and has shiny smooth leaves and should be starting to have little buds at the top. I plant it between my tomatoes to keep worms off of them.

I'd forgotten basil also helps keep white fly from your toms!

Oh dear! I have no idea either and wouldn't even know what Basil looked like unless somebosy showed me a picture!! x
