Engaging in loose talks

People sometimes engage themselves in loose talks about someone or something without knowing about the consequences it may have. Sometimes they get caught red handed and get penalised or punished. Have you anytime come across any such incident - may be neighbours, friend or layman.

Oh the only time i remember being caught for actually talking loose is when i am playing on the basketball court and if some one does something stupid and ahem ahem, curse around and then when the coach hears that he looks at me like hes gonna kill me. But he doesnt coz he knows m his Ex basketball team captian. lol

Yeah, gossip can be quite annoying. I'm relatively lucky that most of my friends don't bother gossiping about each other. However, I have come across a few that can't seem to get out of the habit of gossiping. I tend to stay away from them, mainly because I'm worried that the gossip will eventually take a negative turn towards me. I'm also just not that interested in hearing them slander people I don't (or don't care to) know.
In general, it'd be great if people could subscribe to this quote: "Great minds discuss ideas; Average minds discuss events; Small minds discuss people."
