There's regular ice cream. Then there's italian ice cream (if i'm not mistaken) called gelato. it's creamier (probably because it has more milk?) and the ones that i've tried are tastier than your regular ice cream. I just love their choco mint and sugar free chocolate flavors. I look forward to each date or meeting in an Italian restaurant if only for their gelato. yum-yum-yum! do you like gelato too?

I like gelato. There used to be a place that sold it in the next town over from me but now they stopped having it so much and I am sad. I like the fruit flavors best. The first time I ever had gelato was in Atlantic City with my parents. Since then I have been hooked.

Yes, I think you're right. Maybe that's why its texture is different from regular ice cream. I just noticed that most of its flavors are plain, without nuts. But I know of one restaurant where they serve chocolate with assorted nuts. That's the ultimate gelato for me.

the regular flavors have the same calories as regular ice cream but the good news is, it comes in a lot of low fat or sugar free variants.

Hi, like plumfrance already said it depends, if you take regular flavour has almost the same, but you can have flavour like yogurt or fruit (from apple to watermellon) with low calories..

Pistachio tastes good, too. know what, i often promise to try other flavors whenever i'm on my way to an restaurant that serves gelato. but the mere sight of that sugar free chocolate (especially if it's dark) and choco mint makes me forget about my promise. Oh well...i just love gelato!

My Husband and I are currently station in Italy and in the 4 months we have lived here come to LOVE Gelato. It is extremely good and seems so much lighter than American Ice Cream. We will be living here for the next 4 years and I look forward to eating my fair share of Gelato. We actually have a young Italian guy that speaks a little english come through our military housing every afternoon on a little truck. It's much like the Ice Cream Trucks in the states however he only plays Rihanna for music and uses this annoying beep to get everyones attention. Anyhow, I highly recommend anyone and everyone try this. The Italians here have told me its actually a few calories under american Ice cream and they serve it in actual cups so unlike when you buy a half gallon of Ice cream and eat half of it without noticing this you only eat a cup and it is plenty. Ciao, Sher

Oh, there's nothing like gelato. I fell in love with it in Italy and a local cafe here (which unfortunately is now gone). It's very different from ice cream here. Gelato actually has less butterfat in it. It's creamier because of the process by which it's made and is semi-frozen at a higher temperature than other ice creams. There's actually no "gelatin" in it. I love mango, hazelnut, and pistachio flavors most.
