Hi there savypat!
I have always been interested in learning more about my roots. There's not much problem on my father's side. One of my grand aunts has been working on a family tree. This made me more interested in learning about our roots. It's not really that difficult as most of the data I need particularly for my dad's mother side is available in the local city hall as they come from the first few families that inhabited the area. Moreover, most of the past and present leaders in their place come from the family. I suggest that you ask your elders. I am sure that they will be able to help you.

I don't know how well this works in Africa, I searched for Germany Jews after the war and could get nothing, all gone. At least I know and will not keep beating my head against that wall. In Africa, I guess you would have to know the customs,
do the people ou are looking for even have a written language or do they carry forward information by speaking, Is there anyone left who knew any of your family? This would be an exciting chase. With the information age available you may very well be able to find some info. Remember things are changing all the time in this world and more and more place are open on the internet. Go into this with an open mind and see what you can find. Let me know if I can help at all LOL

HI! I am interested in knowing my roots. But I think my oldest data would be from the memory of my grandmother. Not much now because I think she's too old to remember. But I am interested if the whole world is really connected to each other by blood lines. Take care =)

Ask your Grandma anything to get her talking, soon she will be gone and she is a
wonderful source of info. Many times you can get people to remember if you will just take the time to ask questions and listen. Old people love to be listened to and as long as she has her mind clear, tap it. Don't let this get away from you. LOL Pat

I've been doing genealogy research for 10 years or so. I have done it on both sides of our family, husband and wife. It is very enjoyable. It is exciting when you find something that has been missing in your research. I use Family Tree Maker on my computer to save all the information.
