Is Aloe Vera as good a drink as it is acclaimed?

It has a good medicinal value..i have heard that it reduces the "problems that one have with Diabetics, and purifies the blood".. But to drink the extract of Aloe Vera.. on regular basis.. why is it needed unless it is needed on medicinal grounds.. There are a lots of plants available in my home town..

Drinking aloe vera!?!? I have never herd of anyone doing this. and i would have thought that would be poisenous to your body system. hmmm
