I live in a small city in Illinois but they have done a really neat thing. There is a place outside of the city that they have fixed up for walkers. It is called Silver Creek Preserve and it is really nice. There is a one mile paved trail for walkers to walk on. Of course they have bathrooms there for men and one for women which to me is important if you are going to be out walking. It is 26 acres of Prairie Grass, 8 acres of Woodland, and 1 1/2 acres of wildflowers, pavilion. I love to go out there and do my walking. Not only do I get to walk but I also get to enjoy nature. So do any of you all have a place that your city has made for the walkers of the city?
I will be going out later and taking some actual pictures of the preserve. When I do I will do another discussion and include pictures of the preserve.

Across the street from my apartment is a lovely commons that has grass, trees and paths where people walk all the time. There are benches to sit when you get tired, a water fountain that is always going and a bandstand right in the middle where there is sometimes a band that plays for a few hours on certain days. It's awesome and a great place to walk day or night.

That sounds like a awesome place to walk. And also if a person is not into walking they can go there and just relax. Sounds like it is beautiful.

Hello, I am from India and living in the capital city of one of the states. The city Municipal Corporation has made provisions of parks around the city where people go for walking in morning and evening.I like the idea of walking in the park because it is free from pollutions.one such park is located just close to my house where we go for walking and take rest under the Neem tree which has high medicinal value.thanx.

There are lots of walking paths in Austin. Down around the lake there's a walking trail that goes around the lake. You can go all the way down to the loop 1 bridge, stop and the lamar bridge and go down to the south 1st bridge
I understand you can go down to the Congress Ave bridge, but I've never done it.
Hey, looked it up and heres a site with all the trails in Austin.

When we lived near Akron Ohio, we had so many places to go and walk. Tons of hiking trails through parks, paved hike and bike trails. I loved having them and was a frequent user. I appreciate them even more now that we've moved and I don't have anything around me. We have some planned communities here that have their own paved paths. I can drive to a few areas an hour away now. I mainly walk the neighborhoods now and that has its own interest I think.

Walking around the neighborhoods is also nice. My little city has a lot of things to see if a person wants to walk around the neighborhood. The place for walking outside of the city doesn't even take me five minutes to get there in my car. I go there a lot.

Yes we have a lovely little area in downtown where it has a massive fountain, as well as walkways under trees, a little river and lots of different places to sit and relax and enjoy your lunch break. But then again, there are also various other parks all around our region.

We don't live far from something called the Bruce Trail, which starts off at the Bruce Peninsula, about two hours North of here, and goes on for I-don't-know-how-long. My mother and step-dad have hiked sections of that many many times. I am not much for hiking, but they like it, so it is a good plae for them.

It sounds like your city mayor looks toward things that are good for the people. I think that both a trail for walkers and a trail for bike riders is a very good thing. That way the two don't get in the way of the other. Your city mayor sounds like a very good mayor.

We have one here although I've never been to it. It winds around the park and through a woodsy area. There is an elderly apartment complex near there and I understand that they take walks along it at times.

In my university: The University of the Philippines Diliman the whole 2.2 kilometers of the so called academic oval is actually made for walking. On Sundays it would always be a carless day so that people could enjoy walking under the shade of very big trees. Also the areas within that oval is actually a forest park, the other side is the famous sunken garden which is a 5 hectare grass covered area. The name is such because it sinks a few centimeters every year.

There is a place amidst our busy city called "Freedom Park" (aptly name, I guess)where people from all walks of life could take a walk or jog after work or during the early mornings. It is not really a big park, but we have a small children's playground, an oval where people jogged and shady trees and benches where one can sit and relax. It is a good place to have a respite from the bustling city traffic and noise. Although it is in the middle of the city, it is still a refreshing place to go.
