Unusual pets. Have you had any?

There are many pets that come and go as a fad. The iguana is one of them that seem to have stuck an not disappeared as just a fad. It has become common enough now that I no longer consider it an 'unusual' pet. But I have heard of some that I think are. Take the Madagascar hissing cockroach for example, hermit crabs, or stick insects, to name a few. It seems that people will try to keep any animal as a pet. How about you? What's the strangest pet you've kept, or heard of people keeping?
