In some countries, going out and drinking with the boss and other co-workers are a common occurrence. Some companies even allot a certain budget for it and it's widely known as team building activities. In some, it is not permissible. What do you think?

It's perfectly ok to do it and I've been a strong advocate of it. I don't drink but I certainly try and give good company when I'm there with them. It helps you understand you team better and goes a long way in building up the relationship with the team.

I guess it depends on the country's cultural aspects? Some cultures have high Power Distribution Item. examples would be asian countries where u would generally treat ur boss as a boss. western european countries have lower PDI and u can go out with any1 u want, be it prez or sb. Cant say sth about US though. OK, if u liked my answer choose me as a best response. it would make my day.
