Alcohol and cigarette has bad effects, but people continue to "use" them.

Alcohol has been found out to cause irreversible alcoholic liver cirrhosis. It also enhances the deposition of uric acid (crystals) in the bones promoting gouty arthritis. It leads to malnutrition because people who are alcoholics tend to lose their appetite and also cause a deficiency in the secretion of nutrients and vitamins. There are still countless minor side effects - but the point is, alcohol is detrimental to our health. On the other hand, people who smoke are more prone to lung cancer and lung diseases. Smoking and alcohol have also been proven to cause deformities in unborn children. With all of these side effects, people still continue to use them. Which one is the predominant reason, do we need a campaign awareness of the bad side effects because they might not know these, or is it just that they can't help themselves?
