I just bought Microsoft Home and Student Office 2007 brand new from Best Buy (Its on sale BTW for $99.00 (normally $150) It says that it is licensed for 3 computers. I just installed it on 4 and activated the software (which meant going on-line to do so) on each of them. There were no errors, nothing to stop me from installing it on more than 3 systems. My questions are: 1) Has anyone done this with any programs before? 2) Did it cause problems in the future (like if the software company realizes it is on more than the allowable amount.) 3) Are there any actual safeguards against installing on more systems than licensed for if so.. 4) How did I get away with it?

Think the office people are watching? It didn't cause any problems.

I have never thought about it. The most I put it on was 2 but maybe you did get away with something. I doubt they will even realize that it is on 4 computers. Your safe I bet.

Hello Dizz, :)))) What happens is that after you have activated software so many times you will get a window that tells you to call Microsoft. You will have to repeat a series of 9, 5 numbers Microsoft will ask how many computers you are using this product on...safest things to always say is Only one and I had to format and reinstall my OS and other software... They then give you a new number to place into that page and there ya go :))) You will be able to activate 4 to 6 times with out hassle, just never say that you have the product on more than the allowed computers.

It my start saying that you may not have a legitimate copy! But nobody comes to your house and arrests you! You may be restricted when downloading something, like updates. DO not try to update the copy if it is considered bootleg copy. If you do, it will keep telling you that it detects an "unofficial copy" and ask you if you want to do something about it, now, or later, although it has no way to stop you from using it.

I was thinking of the computer software, as it does tell us that our copy may not be "authentic" if we try to update it. I am not sure if the office suite does that too, or if they even have updates available!
