I had so many different (and overlapping) interests that it became too much! I just got through and brutally pruned my list of interests, from 75 or a 100 to less than 50. Whew! Some of them I just posted for the hell of it, while others I post to with a much greater frequency. I feel like a giant monkey's off my back--what a difference! 
I did this, since lately I've only been starting discussions in the same two or three genre's (I'll post to whatever interests me though). It's something I really needed to do for some time...it's after 9:30 PM and I couldn't get on to myLot until about 15 or 20 minutes ago (between chores and my daughter monopolizing the computer...), but at least that's out of the way. I've got to get back to posting, but I thought I'd share this.
Here's my question: How many of you regularly weed through the numerous interests that you have and make your lists more manageable? And how often do you do this? Please share...

Wow, you do have an incredible huge list of interests. As for me, I didn't add much in my list as I normally focused in a few interest topic. Ever since Mylot had changed the layout, it made my life easier by focusing on those hot topics as I just check on top of the webpage to see which interest topic had new posts from users. From there, I would see if anything that catch my interest to response to. I have never done any housekeep of my interest list since I joined MyLot so you can imagine how small is my list. lol

I had to cut back--I kept adding them, without any clear thought as to how complicated my life would be! 
I'm trying to streamline a lot of things--either at home or here on the internet! It was a treat to see my in box for my main email account currently has only 26 messages--down from an all-time high of over 400!

I'm still cutting down...that high number was when I was thinking (mistakenly) that we got paid for all of the interests, or that I'd see more discussions to post to. All it did was create a HUGE headache for me, hence the reason for eliminating so many of them! I'll probably do some more in the coming weeks...and welcome to myLot!

No problem! Actually, I think I was exaggerating--it's less but I'm not in the mood to count them now! Tomorrow I'll be trimming my friends list--there's 135 and I don't always approve of them!

Good that you could do that! I haven't checked my interests, maybe I should once I have enough time.

I don't really stress over it. Like you I usually post my discussions in a small group most often, but I am careful not to add interests that are already on my list. So I don't need to pare down often and so I don't! LOL
You've deleted some of your eh babes? Well you sure as hell better not have deleted ME! ROFL

yeah I know what you mean I had to cut back some myself it was driving me nutty so now I have whatever I have which is sad cause I dont know what that is hehe

I feel a thousand pounds lighter--I've only added one person (she sent me a link, but we've been friendly for some time), rejected 6 or 7 today (I let them accumulate) and posting new discussions has been so much easier! I think that's how I'm going to do it. Thanks for responding and good luck!

oops you mean its nota good thing to check all those pluses when one signs up here? LOL I am new to this site so I will have to figure out how to fix that. Also I got knocked off that wizard before I was finished and still have not figured out how to fix that!

Hello and welcome rae! I had so many different interests that I had lost a few of the more important ones; now I just have the ones that I really want to post to regularly. I'll go through and respond to other discussions that are interesting, but I don't think I'll ever have the 200 or so interests again--too much clutter!

Mylot has made it much easier for me to find things to respond to. I like how they have the different areas listed at the top of the page. I don't have much listed in different interests. I just go through the discussions until I decide one is interesting. I have maybe a hand full. I really don't know because I never go to that area in my page. I find enough without looking at the different interest areas. So I haven't weeded through my list since I joined here and that has been a bit over a year ago.

I'll probably go through again and eliminate even more...I was getting annoyed even at the ones I had left! Actually, I left some of my favorites, as well as some really stupid obscure ones, just because I either started them, or the topics that DO come up are rather cool. Silly me!

when I first started they prompted me to add my interests. I added so many that after awhile, I was dizzy from the discussion which I did not want to see in my profile discussion feeds. So I cut them own and have those which attracts me. From time to time, I will add 1 or 2 if I find the discussion in that interest interesting. If not, I will respond to the discussion but not add them to my interest. I try to sieve the interest list every now and then. But I usually do this when it gets overwhelming, just like you! LOL!

You're the second newbie who mentioned that they spent so much time adding interests in the beginning, and later found it extremely overwhelming! When I started, that was one thing that I didn't get that into...then someone suggested that we were being paid for responding to as many discussions within our interests and silly me, I followed along. Fortunately, I've come to my senses, though I kept some interests that I NEVER post to. They'll be gone tomorrow for sure! Thanks for sharing!

It gets overwhelming any more...I used to be able to keep up, but now...it's too hard! I've got so many other things going on, plus I can't believe that summer is 2/3 of the way over! 
I missed so much of it, but I plan to enjoy what's left (and there's always football to look forward to!) Thanks for sharing!
