I've been watching this movie. What can you say about it? Are there any war movies you could suggest? The big trail was also nice, it's about a rescue mission of POW's in the Philippines...

I like Full Metal Jacket, too. The boot camp sequences are what make the movie. The movie you refer too about the POW rescue in the Philippines is called The Great Raid. If you like to read, I recommend the book that the movie was based on, Ghost Soldiers. The movie doesn't do it justice. I found the book at times hard to put down. Other movies that weren't mentioned in the other responses are, Enemy At The Gates, about the battle for Stalingrad during World War II, We Were Soldiers, with Mel Gibson, and Flyboys, with James Franco who was also in The Great Raid.

Yeah, that's the Great Raid. I missed some lines on the big trail... got it interchanged. Yeah, some movies don't give justice to novels.

Savning Private Ryan is a good war movie. I like Full Metal Jacket too. It makes me cringe when they are hitting the guy with the bars of soap I keep thinking owie through that entire scene.

I like the jelly donut scene man. I first watched it through Betamax. Quite old but it's cool.

I absolutely love Full Metal Jacket, what a classic. I am fan of Jarhead with Jake Gylenhaal also. I also recently watched Home of The Brave which is more about the after effects of soldiers who have spent time in war torn countries, very poignant and thought provoking but a really good film.

A two-segment story that follows young men from the start of recruit training in the Marine Corps to the lethal cauldron known as Vietnam. The first segment follows Joker, Pyle and others as they progress through the hell of USMC boot-camp at the hands of the colorful, foul-mouthed Gunnery Sergeant Hartman. The second begins in Vietnam, near Hue, at the time of the Tet Offensive. Joker, along with Animal Mother, Rafterman and others, face threats such as ambush, booby traps, and Viet Cong snipers as they move through the city.
