we do have the same problem. I also wanted to buy a sony vaio but the problem is, it's so expensive. It made me think what is the difference of the other brands with sony vaio in terms of quality. Why it is so expensive, but I so love the style of sony vaio, I just don't know if it's as friendly as Acer.

you know in the hi-tech market the word cheap is always difficult to find linked to the best configuration in a pc or other tech devices...so i think dell,hp and even lenovo for example have good prices for all tastes...so normaly systems are ok and if you buy them online in many cases you can configure by yourself for your needs!!Surely as regards other brands as apple, sony,or other big brands normally they are really expensive so you can start from other brands as well

I have been researching about laptops since a long time and here is something I have found about them:- Dell: It has the widest configurations, great services but still it is best for home use. HP: They are quite an innovators in laptop and desktop field, but most of their products are a tad overpriced. Lenovo: They were quite a decent company until recently when it lost it's momentum. Let's see if it can come back. Acer: This one has the best pricing options. A dual core laptop from emachines (now with Acer) comes at a price of a netbook. Unbelievable. They were also the first to introduce laptop with 3-d screen and an affordable touch laptop. Asus: They build the most powerful and most varied laptop. The configurations of each of their laptop have a day to night difference unlike others which have very similar configurations. They are also quite an innovator and love making powerful laptops. They hold the most powerful netbook in their brand till date. Apple: Their hardware is just like everyone else, but their software and design is what sets it apart from the competition. Their laptops are heavily over-priced but if you look it the other way round, you will find that it isn't that expensive. Sony Vaio: This company is run by some freaks, who makes crazy configurations in laptops and sells them at crazier prices. The price of their netbooks is similar to the price of Dell's dual core laptops. They are the worse in overpricing a laptop, and still their range doesn't have any really powerful laptop. These were totally my views that I have found out by researching for laptops over an year. Regards, AJ-Rox

Thanks for this information. I am actually on a search for a good quality brand of laptops since I want to buy one for myself and this information really helps a lot. At least I have now a brief idea in choosing the best laptop for me.

Hmm...cheap...When you say cheap, I'll say I go with any japanese brands other than sony because a VAIO costs a fortune nowadays. Hmm...Here in the Philippines I see many brands including NEO and BLUE and their laptops are good. Although it's really hard to say which is the best because everyone of them has pros and cons, those NEO, BLUE and those japanese brands do last long, and their performance is good enough.
