well the first thing that you should do is for you to configure your laptop to boot from the cd first and not from the hard disk. once you've done that. just insert your win xp to your cd rom drive and that should do it. how to configure the boot configuration: once your computer starts, when you see the memory countdown press delete right away so that instead of booting the vista from the hard disk it will go to your BIOS. once inside the bios look for the option on how your system boots up. it varies so i cannot really tell you how to change it. usually it is denoted by boot sequence. so change your boot sequence to cdrom first then hard disk. then save it. once your computer start it will try to look for bootable file on the cdrom. that should do the trick:) have a good day

It is difficult process to install windows xp on windows vista installation. First you will need an extra drive for windows, if you don't have extra, try creating with the process described on the link. Install windows xp to that separate partition and follow the steps described with images: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/install-windows-xp-on-your-pre-installed-windows-vista-computer/

Is your hard disk partitioned. If yes it is very easy.Just check the partition drive in which your OS is loaded.(Usually C drive).Select the drive on which u want to install XP.Transfer the files in that drive to other drive or a cd Then insert XP CD and restart the system.Just follow the instructions when installing they are all very easy to understand. If it is not partitioned then u can use some partition manager to do that and then install it on the empty drive
