This question is asked to users that already have or had a Linux based operating system. Now what would be (for example 10) top reasons to go from Windows to a Linux platform? I am asking this because I have heard something like the Linux is faster or it cant have viruses or so.. Also what do you think what are the bad properties of this operating system?

hello mark; well, for me, why shift to Linux is because of these: 1) its FREE 2) doesnt need much reboot after every install 3) almost all linux/unix softwares are also FREE 4) you can run windows under linux ...and many more reasons why shift to linux. but anyway, you can always dual-boot Linux and Windows OS, though under Linux system, it takes quite sometime to get used to it. But once you get the hang out of it, you'll be smooth sailing with linux. Well sad to say that Linux/Unix system can also get infected in some ways. But Linux is a lot safer than Windows to those virus/trojans/malwares...windows it just an easy target. :)

i think the most important positive of linux is that the OS and all its associated applications are totally free....and more over they are growing well every day... the minuses would be they dont have many games ofr them....and there are not always drivers for some devices...
