What About The Federal Government's Obscene Profits?

The federal government will make 2.7 trillion dollars just this year, and to some that is just not enough. What has the federal government done to earn this money, nothing except hold out their hands like a street beggar. I take that back the federal government does not hold out their hand like a street beggar but like a street mugger. Let us compare the revenue of the federal government compared to some of the largest corporation;
Wal-Mart 387.69 Billion
ExxonMobile 404.552 Billion
Microsoft 60.420 Billion
Ford Motor Company 172.455 Billion
General Motors 181.122 Billion
General Electric 169.7 Billion
Just those companies combined only come to 1.376 billion dollar still 1.324 billion dollars short of what the federal government makes. Still there are those that will say the federal government needs more.

I think you mean Trillion, not Billion. Still, I get your point and you are right. I for one would really like to see federal pay and benefits reduced. By far the biggest expenditure of federal monies is for personnell costs. I'm guessing 60%? Who says we can't balance the budget on the backs of federal workers? Let them really bear a burden!

I had just typed billion six time and I guess it was just stuck in my head. Sometimes I wish MyLot had an edit button that the writer of the post could edit a discussion after they posted it. At lest you still got what I was saying. The federal budget spends $1.21 trillion dollars on just funding all of the departments. Think about that Redyellowblackdog six of the most powerful coporation comes to 1.376 trillion dollars and all the federal adgences need 1.21 trillion dollars.

Good day...Your Government and mine has the same problem, but compare to yours my government is even worse. They only tend to take and never give anything back to the people. At least in yours there is still degree of trust if not to all, to most. In mine nada.

If our elected officials are doing their jobs right, I see nothing wrong with their earning a comfortable living and even getting a few perks.
But my issue with it is that the tax dollars we pay are, primarily, supposed to be taking care of the needs of we the people.
After all, we've worked hard for our money and have earned it, and it's claimed that what we pay in taxes is supposed to be to take care of everybody when they need an extended hand.
So, why is it that there are so many people struggling while elected officials are being paid huge salaries along with getting frequent "perks" such as trips to Paris for shopping and entertainment!?!
Something is definitely wrong with the picture.
Perhaps, we should take a trip to Washington, D.C. to try to find out how our tax dollars are being spent!?!
My dad embarked on such a trip back in the 1990s. Due to a comedy of errors, he never got there, but that's a whole other story waiting for me to write it!

The federal government does not need more. You are supposed to be in a recession and the federal government can cut back. If it were like Canada where we have public health insurance, I would say the federal government needs the money to provide health care, but your medicare and social security, does not the working person there contribute? I think it is more to support the illegal immigrants that come through the Mexican border (they probably can catch Canadians coming down there easier.) and if your government laid down the law and deported these illegals, you would not have that problem. As well there is the single never married mothers who thought it was a good thing to have a baby without a husband, that is just two things that persuades the federal government to need more taxes. They do not.
