background checks online

is there anywhere online where i can do a background , a basic one, for FREE??
My daughter moved out a month ago and now they are moving in with this weird looking guy and my daughter does not know anything about him and when I went to do a basic search on him they cost like 49.00!!! I do not want his whole life history just basic stuff, like age, etc.

If you have his full name you may be able to do a criminal records check in the various counties where you live..if he's a local boy and has been around for a while. Sometimes you can search from the county court's website and sometimes it's from the court clerk's website.
