What is the single most important thing you could teach your child as a parent? What's the most important thing you have taught yours while they were growing up or what is it you'd plan to teach them? Respect is the most important thing I can think of at the moment. Many others come to mind, which ones do you think of?

to love others.. because if you learn how to love truly... them it comes the respect...the good deeds and many good things that he/she might do because of love...

well for me i have two , i teach my children to always respect your elders, and to always respect others. The second thing that is inportant for me to teach my children is about God and how inportant he is in there lives.

Teaching them about God is important too. How old are they and do you take them to church? I wonder how old they are when this concept sinks in, some maybe start at an early age..

Respect is important. I think kids nowadays just lack that. They can do and say things to you and yet their parents just can't do anything about it and just blame it on TV or other adults.

The single most important thing I could teach my child if I had one, is to be good to others. If you had a good heart everything comes with it. We have to be good so that we can live a blessed life and loved, respected by many.

i always telling my daughter to take care of her name. cause no amount of money will match it. its our pride that no one can get. to have dignity and be a good human being. hard to be perfect but atleast do what we can do to be one.

i think the best thing that we can teach our kids is for them to be good christian or whatever the religion is. to have a good moral attitude, God fearing, respect the elders, be responsible in everything they do. of course, dignity is also important and care for others. teach them to be independent cause parents will not be always with them always. strong and be wise.

Love. The most important thing I can teach them is love. Love for others and love for themself. Because if they don't love themselves, how can any one else love them. So that's what I'm going to teach them. Have a nice day

Yup, we can never truly love someone else until we can truly love ourselves.. A good day to you too

Respect covers it all. If they learn to respect themselves they will always try their hardest and do their best, and they will want to become better people and be willing to grow. If they respect others they will strive to make lasting relationships, have good work-job-career experiences, and learn to love. I don't think there is anything more important than respect.

first is to pray every morning, some basic disciplines, respect, share food or things with others, love (which is not taught but shown and she reciprocates the love so well, whoever it is) and of course, one more thing i have taught her from the age of 2 is to inform me or my hubby if someone touches her private parts (later one day, when she was 2, i was applying powder on her butt, she told me, mom you said i must complain to you, but you yourself are touching my butt, children are so sharp...)

Me and my fiance do not have kids right now,but whenever we do have kids I can think of several things that I would want us to teach our children, one of course is respect as you mentioned because they need to learn to respect all people and animals, another is loyalty because you have to be loyal to your family and friends, and the most important thing that I can think of that we need to teach our children is honesty because the truth shall always set you free.

Well, for me, HONESTY is the first thing that I would instill to the minds of my kids because wherever you will go, and whatever things you will do, you earn the respect of people if you are HONEST in everything that you do. You can earn the trust of many if you are honest and many people would like you and would want to be with you if you are honest because they can depend on you.

Love. Love is a vital thing your child should learn. Love for family members, love for people, love for country and love for God. If he loves, then everything will fall into their proper places. Love makes the world go around and it is upon this premise that we exist in this world. I will teach him/her to see the world in through the eyes of love.
