Redistribution of Wealth

For decades now Republicans have used the term redistribution of wealth as one of their key talking points against taxing the rich. However, I have yet to hear one republican mention the current redistribution of wealth that is taking hundreds of billions of dollars from low and middle class Americans today. With record high oil prices, and inflation taking more and more money from the American family budget, that money has to go somewhere. So where does all of this money go to? This money goes to the same people that have the loudest voices against redistribution of wealth when it comes to taking their money. They have no problem at all taking this money from you and me, they even try to defend their insane profits, and their enormous golden parachutes. But, if you tell them that we should repeal the Bush tax cuts because they didn't work, and they are costing us billions (while showing little to No return on our investment), the first thing they claim is redistribution of wealth. It is time that the American people stand up, and ask these people why they have remained silent while your income has been redistributed to the wealth Americans? Ask them why you should subsidise their new yachts, or their new multi-million dollar house? It is sad when the majority of the lower and middle class Americans are just trying to get by, and we see everyday another CEO making tens of millions, to hundreds of millions of dollars a year. Who really needs all of that money? Most of us would be happy to be able to pay our bills, and have some left over to afford pizza on Friday night. Many people will say this is just class warfare, but this is just the truth, and if you don't like it then do the research.

For decades now Dumocrats have punished capitalism. Look, TGB, we live in a capitalistic society, all men are created equal until your open their bank books. I don't care if some guy who invents something that everybody wants and needs pulls from society, that person in turn creates jobs for people. Just because I didn't make the millionaires club doesn't mean I hate those who did. I could do that but that would cause me to pick up a socialists sign and spend my free time telling everybody the rich are bad people. Chew on this, if the rich want expensive houses or yachts or motor homes who do you think builds them, the working class. So what if somebody has more money that you, should they give you some to make it even? No! Take this example, your trying to get into med school and you need a 4.0, dumb little (pick a name) doesn't study and doesn't care about getting into medicine, he just wants to skate by because he's got no goals. You make a 100 on the test, he makes a 45, should we average your grade with his? Sure, now you have a 72.5 average, think you're still going to get into med school with those grades, good luck, you'll need it. The American family budget is bloated and consumed by credit card debt, crap electronics and stuff that they think they can't live without, I promise you that. The Bush tax cuts allow the working class to keep their money instead of giving it to damocrats useless programs. Just because it didn't stimulate the economy doesn't mean it wasn't invested, or used by those who received it. Oil prices are set by OPEC, those are the people in the middle east who raise the price, not the Republicans. Now its gotten way out of hand and we need to drill for our own oil but the dumocrats don't want to, it might kill some stupid spotted owl, who cares, we are above nature, not below it. I'll tell you this, if I worked all my life and I had to sell my company or it was being bought out I wouldn't just accept a handshake and a congrats cake, I'd want my investments and my dividens coming to me. The working class calls it retirement, just because a millionaire has more than me doesn't entitle me to any of his spoils. I see that you're just starting out here and that's good. I'll take your name as a sign for more healthy debates to come.

Gitfiddleplayer, thank you for repsonding. Democrats have not punished capitalism, they have supported capitalism in the United States, and has tried to punish companies that send jobs overseas, and effects the average American. For example when US corporations send billions of dollars over to a communist country, that then use those funds to build up their military, and threaten the US. See capitalist doesn't worry about where their money goes, or who it supports, they just worry about their bottom line. This is why Reaganomics doesn't work anymore, when you lower taxes for wealthy Americans, they are not reinvesting in the United States, they are creating jobs all around the world. Bush's tax cuts did nothing at all to help the country, as a matter of fact it has left our country in worse shape now. We have a record defecit, our economy is near another recession, job growth is horrible, and inflation is skyracketing. By the way OPEC does not set oil prices, if you do some research you will see that the commodity traders set the price. OPEC is part of the reason the price of oil is down, they recently had an emergency meeting about oil prices. OPEC makes $87.00 a barrel, at the time of the meeting, the market rate for oil was $135.00 a barrel. Who made the difference? By the way, George W. Bush could very easily effect the price of oil the same way Clinton did in the 90's. He just didn't want to. When it comes to drilling: Why would the oil companies do this? If you know so much about business, then you would understand that drilling for oil would cost billions, you wouldn't see a drop for atleast 5 years, and worse it would increase supply. When you increase supply the price goes down, so now you have spent billions, it has cost you millions in interst, and now oil is cheaper because of the greater supply. It doesn't make sense at all does it? Good luck with that one.

Sorry it took me so long to get back. I was doing some research. You are correct about OPEC, I know they have lowered the price and the American consumer has benefited, a few cents is a few cents. Back to your comment about capitalism, we live in a global economy, we can't reverse it. I see that globalizing things is a give/take 60/40 deal. We often times loose jobs in America to extend our global economy to other countries, its also called trade relations. America is a superpower, we are not weak and capitalism allows us, whether its good or bad, to extend our fruits of success to other countries. If you want the cheapest price, hire the cheapest labor, business 101. The Bush tax cuts showed that Washington was using our money for useless programs that I or you never saw any results from. Why not give back to the American tax payer their money and let them use it how they want, no bills, no amendments, just a simple return of MY and YOUR money. I'm sure you already used your money, if you don't want it, send it to me. Now onto drilling domestically. We have oil and can't touch it, Cuba can, hmmmm. Tell me who we are beholden to that we can't use our own natural resources? B.O. wants to develop these pie in the sky energies, let him but lets drill now and use what we have under our feet, in the meantime, he can use money from his supporters to "test" these new fangled government programs. Leave my money alone! I don't want to support his "Save the earth and save ourselves" agenda, its wrong and you know it. We can debate the war later but the money being spent on it is keeping us safe, I want to be safe, I don't want a Jr. Senator to sit down and have a conversation with our enemies, he will compromise the safety of the USA, he's inexperienced. Drilling for oil will cost billions but the supply will go up when we have the ball in our court, we can sell it to other nations, again its part of the global economy. I don't agree with you about a depression, be positive, use what you need and don't think this country won't survive and thrive. If everybody hates us then why are they all wanting to come here?

I know that we are a slave to big oil but creating an alternative fuel won't be available for market until at least 5 years. I'm not against alternative fuels but you can't convert the current automotive industry overnight and have us all burning banana peels to get around town. Plus, the government want's to control the alternative fuels, that's a huge problem, they can't do anything right because they will get kickbacks from the billions of dollars it cost to develop, market and distribute these "new" types of energy. Leave it up to the American inginuity to develop a better way, not a government regulated program. Plus, what if I don't want a solar house or a mandantory green lifestyle? B.O. and company are poised to control your every action, what kind car you can drive (eco friendly) what kind of food you can eat (organic) and at what time of the day you can run your AC, that's BS! The Bush tax cuts did benefit the wealthy, they also benefited me, the poor benefited too by having a little more green in their pockets. Nobama wants to take money from the rich, (and btw, he's worth 1.3 million, he's rich, but don't think he and his very rich democrat buddies are going to give their money to the poor, that would make them true public servants,) and give it to the poor, I'm for helping the poor with effort not with cash. Our global ecomony is off kilter, I'll agree with that, I don't like the trade relations we have with some countries but when we send jobs out of the USA we do it for a global profit. I don't own a corporation but I've worked for some pretty big ones and their cost and expenses are far what we can imagine. We create jobs for people all around the world, you don't hear Snobama saying he wants to end that, he knows its bigger than him. About the foreign policy issues, I don't want greenhorn B.O. sitting down with our enemies trying to work it out, if you do that then they've already won. McCain knows the importance of not starting WWIII, he can't do anything anyway, Bush is still in office. Since you work in the oil buis I'll take your word for it, I won't debate until I've done more research about that, point to thegreatdebater. I also understand about the capital gains tax being lowered, we have money all over the world, other countries don't care how we got the money, just that its in their bank so they can lend it out. Money makes the world go round.
